Year 6 have enjoyed some exciting activities, introducing our new half term topic ‘Bravery, Courage and Strength’ which explores aspects of World War Two.
First, the children were faced with a mysterious suitcase, who did it belong to? How do you know?
Then, we learned about the outbreak of World War Two and the reasons that led to Britain declaring war in 1939. We identified the countries involved and explored some new historical vocabulary.
In English, we listened to some real life accounts of conscription, evacuation and female spitfires pilots!
Finally, this week, we split ourselves into 1930’s family groups to explore the roles and life of the typical 1930’s family. You can see more of our work on SeeSaw!
A great start to our new topic Year 6 – well done!
