Year 6 had a fantastic day out in Newcastle!

First, we completed a WW2 workshop with Basil, a 92 year old gentleman who told us all about what Newcastle was like in the war.

During the workshop, we got to handle artefacts and ask lots of questions. We even got to smell what the toilets in the tunnel would be like!

Then, with our torches, we explored the underground Victoria Tunnel and heard the air raid siren.

After lunch, we travelled to Newcastle Quayside where we explored the geography of the area and compared it to photos from the 1920s, 1950s and 1960s.
