Year 6 have been investigating the circulatory system in Science and it has been fascinating!

First, they investigated how the heart worked, using a VR model to see how the organ pumps blood around the body. Then, they created their own model of the circulatory system using art straws to show oxygenated and deoxygenated blood flow.

Next, they created their own blood bags using cheerios for red blood cells, marshmallows for white blood cells and cotton wool for platelets! It was a little messy!

This week, they have been investigating pulse rate and the effect of exercise on the heart – star jumps, planks, yoga and sprinting! Watch out for the results of our experiment coming soon!
