As part of the RE curriculum, pupils have to study aspects of other religions. In Y6 this means a mini-topic on the Jewish festival of Rosh Hashanah, which is the Jewish new year – a time for repentance, forgiveness and atonement. To help us with our studies, we interviewed several very famous Jewish people in order to get a first-hand view of Rosh Hashanah. These included Monica & Ross from “Friends”, Albert Einstein, Lord Sugar and the transcendent American songwriter (and Nobel prizewinner) Bob Dylan. The children enjoyed eating the traditional Rosh Hashanah dish of apples & honey, which – if you’ve never tried it – is amazingly delicious.
