On Monday we went to visit St Dominic’s in Byker and learned about the work done there to support homeless people in Newcastle.  We made cakes and biscuits which would be used in St Dominic’s cafe the following day.  We had a nibble ourselves and jolly fine they were too.  Then we set off for a walk along the Ouseburn and made it right down to the mighty River Tyne itself, passing many famous watering houses on the way.  A first for Mr Keilty.

We started our science topic on Evolution & Adaptation by learning about how scientists know about extinct species (they study fossils). There then followed a mass extinction of Y1’s supply of dinosaurs which were used to demonstrate the process of fossilisation.
