With CAFOD’s Harvest Fast Day falling during our time at High Borrans this year, we brought the traditional Y6 CAFOD fundraising lunch forward a week. A true cross-curricular extravaganza if ever I’ve seen one, though perhaps a shade too subtle for our special visitors to notice when we did exactly the same last year!
The classroom looked spectacular with our Salvadoran art display, augmented by some superb geography work on El Salvador, including explanation texts and information leaflets. As always, the pupils made the soup, preparing vegetables they’d brought in from home – and quite delicious it was, too. The money we raised (close to £100) will go to assist CAFOD’s work around the world, including various projects in Central America. A further example of children from St Columba’s putting themselves out to help those less fortunate.
Thanks to all who came to support us and to all who contributed.
