Year 6 Home Learning – Transition to High School

Year 6 Home Learning – Transition to High School

Good morning, Y6.

Next week is transition week.  Normally you’d go for a tour around your new school, you’d spend two full days there doing lessons and teachers from St Thomas More would come to work with us in St Columba’s.  Of course, this year it’s all different.

It’s very important for you and your parents to get onto the St Thomas More Academy website.  Scroll down and the first thing you come to is the Year 6 Transition 2020 page.  On that page, your parents need to complete the Pupil Registration and Consent Form if they haven’t already done so.

As for you, in the section called Department Areas, you’ll find videos from your new teachers about the school and also transition activities for you to do.  When you start at high school in September, it’s expected that you’ll have done all of them as well as you possibly can.  You can either email them to St Thomas More or you can do them on paper and take them with you when you start. There’s a timetable to help you.

For the Y6 children who have come back to school, this is the timetable we’ll follow next week and you can get your activities completed in class, as far as possible.

Have fun!

Mr Keilty
