Hello Year 5!

I hope that you are having lovely time at home, enjoying the sunshine but also managing some home learning. Don’t forget to check the last home learning blog for creative curriculum ideas around our ‘Spies’ topic.

If you need any help at all, get in touch – that’s what I’m here for!

This week:

I thought you could practise dividing and multiplying by 10, 100, 1000. You know what that means… TIME TO SING THE CONGA! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBz4ycgOxIY

I know that you all know how to do this but a few things to remember:

  • move backwards if dividing
  • forwards if multiplying
  • By 10 is one space…
  • By 100 is two spaces…
  • By 1000 is three spaces…
  • the decimal point is the grumpy party guest who doesn’t join in!

Here are some questions and a place value grid to help:

Place Value Grid

Watch this video ‘Spyfox’ – it will make you giggle! https://www.literacyshed.com/spyfox.html

What can you infer from the video? (e.g. I think that spyfox is an excellent spy). Back this up with evidence from the video (e.g. I know that he is an excellent spy because he was able to save the world from being blown up and he used gadgets which is what all good spies do!) Turn your inference and evidence into a paragraph.

I would love to see what you have been up to or hear from you, so send any messages or photos to the home learning line.

Stay safe and be good! Missing you all.
