Nursery and Reception RE ‘Welcome’ topic

Nursery and Reception were very lucky to travel by mini bus to St Columba’s Church as part of their RE ‘Welcome’ topic. Mrs Dodds greeted us at church and we all made the sign of the cross with the Holy water.

We gathered around the font and discussed how we are welcomed into God’s family. The children also looked at a precious white blanket which is a symbol of purity in the eyes of God.

Back at school we held our very own ‘Baptism.’ We chose a priest, parents and Godparents. The children named the baby ‘Ivan.’

The children took their newly acquired knowledge back to the classroom and independently role played a ‘Baptism.’

God bless baby Ivan.
