Hello to all our readers! Welcome to another exciting year on the Y6 blog!
No time to waste. Even though it was the first week back, we were straight down to work with our first science topic of the year: “How to live longer (or die trying)”. Eating the right stuff in the right proportions can help us stay healthy to a ripe old age. This week Y6 have been investigating which foods provide us with energy and we discovered that those food items which react with iodine by turning black are the one that contain carbo-hydrates and therefore are good sources of long-lasting energy.
We also learned about the other main food groups and which foods furnish us with vitamins, proteins, minerals and fibre.
