As part of the Y6 Geography curriculum we have to study a country in South America and this year I’ve chosen Colombia, mainly because that’s where my daughter is at the time of writing, en route to Ecuador (as you do). It also ties in with some sterling work being done there by CAFOD to help the country recover from fifty years of internal conflicts. Anyway, as a way in to learning about this location we’ve been looking at the work of the eminent Colombian artist Francisco Ceron. Could his jolly, colourful, almost cartoon-like images inspire Y6 to produce some fantastic art work? I’m sure you’ll agree our initial sketches suggest that great things are achievable.
