Anti-Bullying

At St. Columba’s we are delighted to announce that we have been awarded with the ‘North Tyneside Anti Bullying Standards Award’.

On 16th February 2018, representatives from our School Council and Mini Police attended an awards ceremony with Norma Redfearn, the Elected Mayor for North Tyneside and Aaron Speirs, the Young Cabinet Member for Anti Bullying.

After submitting our file of evidence, the panel particularly praised St. Columba’s for our:

. excellent child friendly version of the anti-bullying policy

. Anti-Bullying ambassadors / Mini Police

. Parents’ surveys

. worry box

In order to meet the standards, we had to provide information about our policies, leadership, governance, staff involvement, curriculum, parental involvement, partnership working and E-Safety.

The file of evidence can be found in the foyer along with the certificate and trophy! Please call into school to have a look for yourself!

We enjoyed sharing information about our cyber safety workshops, anti-bullying weeks, work with Big Foot Arts Education and Clennell Education Solutions, our Reception and Y6 Buddy system, Mini Police, School Council, Computing and PSHE lessons and much more! Please look through our website and Twitter pages to see Pic Collages of the exciting activities we participate in.

We are very proud of our Pupil Anti-Bullying leaflet which can be found here. Our Y6 pupils have plans to update this in Summer 2018.

Our full Anti-Bullying policy can be found here

We have even written our own ‘Playground Rules Rap’!

A fun morning was had by all and we are very proud of our award. Huge congratulations and thanks must go to all of the children and staff including our School Council (past and present), Mini Police (past and present), Miss Monteith and Miss Quinn for compiling all of the evidence and organising many of our activities within school.
